RK Investors – founded in 2005 by Russell Ranson and Neil Kapadia – invests in hotels, single-family and multi-family residential new developments and acquisitions. RK Investors principals analyze investments quickly and specialize in discovering and releasing hidden value.

  • Residences at Brookline

    Charlotte, NC

    The only Class A gated neighborhood in Northlake welcomed residents in Winter 2015. 95% occupancy was achieved in less than 12 months. The amenity package includes private gates, a one-mile fitness trail, heated saltwater pool, 24-hour key fob access, a 7,000-square-foot two-story club, two dog parks, a dog wash and car wash along with impressive landscaping.

  • Proximity Northlake

    Charlotte, NC

    Following the success of Brookline in 2015, RK Investors entitled and built Proximity Northlake and welcomed the first residents in October 2018. Proximity Northlake has a modern, clean feel and offers class-leading finishes and amenities like a dedicated food truck parking spot, covered pavilion, community green, dog park and a large sun lounge in the saltwater pool. It was our first project with community-wide integrated wi-fi.

    Charleston, SC

    Three- and four-story buildings with elevators nestled among live oaks in the highly desirable West Ashley submarket with first delivery in 2016.     The Sheraton in Chapel Hill is a flagship for the Sheraton Brand following a complete gut and remodel by RK Investors in 2020 and 2021. The full-service hotel underwent a remarkable transformation and has been recognized by Marriott nationally.

  • Home 2 Charlotte Airport

    Charlotte, NC

    This hotel was developed by RK Investors and opened to travelers in 2016. It is located on the main entrance to Charlotte Douglas International Airport and in close proximity to I-85.

    This full-service hotel is located at the main entrance to the Charlotte Douglas International Airport and immediately off I-85. The hotel’s location is extremely convenient for travelers in and out of the world’s seventh-busiest airport. A complete renovation was undertaken in 2015.

Our Team


  • L. Russell Ranson III

    Principal

    Russell specializes in structuring deals designed to appeal to all stakeholders from landowners and lenders to governmental officials. He routinely solves problems creatively and enjoys working with complicated deals. Prior to RK Investors, Russell spent 20 years with Crosland where he oversaw the planning of more than 10,000 residential lots in 28 neighborhoods. He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from UNC Chapel Hill.

  • Neil B. Kapadia

    Principal

    Neil works with landowners, brokers, other developers and pension funds to find new development and acquisition opportunities. He routinely calls on his legal background to understand challenges facing assets. This ability uniquely prepares him to move swiftly to contract, overcome obstacles and close. Prior to RK Investors, Neil counseled real estate clients at law firm Parker, Poe, Adams & Bernstein LLP and the served as Managing Director at Faison & Associates. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Duke University and a law degree from UVA.

  • Tom Brasse

    Partner

    As a professional geologist and licensed broker, Tom is responsible for site acquisition and land development, pursuing opportunities ranging from small infill redevelopment to suburban apartment communities in the Carolinas. Previously, he worked with Faison Development overseeing land development and multi-family efforts, as well as KB Home. He has also worked in the fields of environmental engineering, construction management, geotechnical evaluation and construction materials testing. He holds a bachelor’s degree in geology from SUNY Oswego.

  • David Arnold

    Director of Finance

    David provides key expertise in underwriting and valuing a diverse portfolio of real estate investments and capital structures for the company’s potential acquisition and or development. He has extensive experience in commercial real estate including lot development, retail, commercial, industrial and multi-family assets. His previous experience includes 15 years as a senior financial analyst and asset manager at Crosland, consulting for capital funds operating in the land acquisition, value-add and qualified opportunity zone markets. David holds a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Florida and a master’s in accounting from UNC Chapel Hill.
